Pacen is 5 1/2 months old! I can't believe he will be 6 months old on the 19th of this month. April is a very busy month for us. Today we had a neurology follow up with Dr. Woody. After doing a physical evaluation on Pacen, he decided that getting an MRI of his brain would be the best route to go since his muscle tone is still increased, he is still failure to thrive & behind in his developmental milestones. The MRI is scheduled in El Paso on the 19th. Dr. Woody is checking for Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) which is damage to brain cells from inadequate oxygen, in Pacen's situation, from birth when his heart rate was 60 bpm for over 10 minutes. Normal babies heart rate is 140+ bpm. He will be sedated for the MRI. We just enjoy our happy smiley guy, he is so much fun! Next week we are going to try solids with him and see if he has the coordination to eat from a spoon yet, should be messy, and fun!
