Cardiology, Allergy and MRI

Pacen's Cardiology appointment is 9 January 2013 at 3pm at the UNM Hospital. The appointment clerk asked if we could get Pacen's pedi to submit the referral since they cannot accept specialty to specialty referrals (GI to Cardiology) at UNMH. He will be seeing Dr. Paul Pitlick, who is a traveling doctor and comes to UNMH for one week every month to see patients. Dr. H said that he is really interested to see how the cardiology appointment goes. Since Pace does not present as "typical" for the things that are being found, that we could uncover a whole new issue or get answers.

I am hoping we can get into the allergist soon as well. I don't foresee it until the new year. I also hope they do some more allergy testing, his skin is still broke out around his mouth, even though he has been allergen free for 1 week now, he may need more time to get everything out of his system. Right now he is on coconut milk, soy/dairy free butter, olive oil, fruits, veggies, meats, beans, hummus, quinoa, quinoa/corn based "pasta" and corn chex. I'm waiting on Dr. H to email me back about ordering a nutritional drink like pediasure, only it is dairy/soy and allergen free. There is a vanilla flavored formula (Neocate Jr.) and a juice box type drink (Neocate Splash). Both are very expensive, the formula being $40 per small can, and the juice boxes $4 each. With all of Pacen's diet restrictions and new foods, we are concerned that he will lose some weight. He is getting kind of picky with his new menu.

Dr. H put in all of the referrals today for the cardiologist, allergist and MRI. It turns out we cannot get his MRI done in Alamogordo, so we will probably head down to El Paso for that. He will get the MRI done at the same imaging facility that his brain MRI was at back in May.
