Oh, just Pacen!
We've been trialing dairy for the last week, oye. Its been gross. His diapers could win 1st - 3rd place and honorable mentions in a stink contest. He is getting the same dose in the morning and evening, but having not so much success in the evening in the potty department. If you catch the whiff ... I mean, drift. His meds are going to be upped by 1 tsp for now and we will see how he does in 3 days. Not to exceed 1.5 caps at one dose, I really am not optimistic that we will stay at the lower dose.
On to better news. The UNM GI has a new track record of calling me back after I leave a message! Woohoo! 24 hours and they were right on the dot. The info above is what the GI nurse asked me to do and see how that goes. I'm a little nervous that they will pull all of his food and put him onto formula sooner than we think. Pace ended up puking up cow milk onto Levi last night, poor guys were covered, Levi hopped in the shower and Pacen required [another] a bath.
With Pacen's purple hands and feet becoming increasingly worse and further up his arms/legs, I put a call into the UNM Heart Clinic. The nurse called me back about 1 hour later. I missed the call as I was heading back to my office for lunch, but I called her back and she had me give a little history and all of that. She sat and talked with me on the phone for 40 minutes explaining that since he isn't blue all of the time, it typically isn't cardiac related and probably vascular related. She explained to me the ins and outs of Congenital Heart Defects and reassured me that Pacen will be A-OK to wait to be seen in January with all of the information that I've provided. She described to me [this is not an official diagnosis, just from his record and history that we talked about this afternoon] that with his past on having trouble gaining weight, he probably had a larger hole in his heart at one point, and now that the murmur is being heard, it is because it is getting smaller. Think of holding your finger over a garden hose, when you have your finger over it, the pressure increases [smaller hole]. When you don't have your finger over the end, there isn't increased pressure [larger hole]. Make sense? Now that we all have our nursing degrees with specialties in cardiology and gastroenterology ....
We are pulling the kids out of daycare on the 14th, that will be their last day. We are hiring a nanny, she starts in January and will be a great stress off of our shoulders. Merik has learned nothing but terrible behavior while at the CDC on base with kids ranging from 3-5 years old, and with all of Pacen's food allergies, Levi and I feel a lot more comfortable preparing the meals ourselves. Now we don't have to mess with new doctor notes every time we turn around (poor Pace!) and find something new he reacts to. Poor kid will be down to eating dirt and air here in a little while. We also get to go back to using cloth diapers! While not many people would be excited about this, we are. They are so much nicer than the stinky paper diapers. No nasty chemicals and gel filled beads exploding from the diapers at night.
