The appointments were yesterday (10Feb), but I had no energy to type after we blazed to and from Albuquerque in less than 24 hours!
Allergist says: Let's not fix what isn't broken. We didn't test for anything else, we are going to keep on keepin' on. I was slightly relieved. Since we have a lot on our plates as it is, and he is progressing (slowly but surely) with feeding rehab with the foods he will eat, we are not experimenting much with new foods to find new reactions. It was a short and sweet appointment. Dr. Clayton is so awesome. He is probably my favorite provider that Pacen has. Not only does he deal with the allergy related field, he wants to read and see all of the other providers notes so nothing is contradicting with his other care plans. He was a pediatrician prior to being an allergist.
Feeding Rehab: Pace was on a mission to please. He did a great job. He is still working on quantity, so we do have our good days and our bad, but he didn't refuse, gag or have much negative behavior. From where we started in this process, he would only sit at the table for 3-5 minutes, gag at most textures, vomit if he was feeling really generous, and refuse everything. Now, he is sitting for 20-25 minutes (with distractions), gagging only at smooth + saucy, and sometimes lumpy textures textures, he hasn't vomited in over a week, and he is being a lot more accepting of foods. He still needs formula, but his intake went from 30 oz per day, to roughly 20 oz per day. WINNING!
And then, our way out of town, a nurse from the UNM GI clinic called me to schedule a follow up appointment for Pacen. Do you know what that means?! They finally got new GI doctors at the hospital! The previous GI providers all left in September. Pacen was last seen in August. Phew. He has an appt the first week of March :)
