Farmhouse Headboard

Levi is taking 2 weeks off to keep the kids while I have class, so while he is home, I have him busy with projects. In the basement, our walls were lined with many, many 2x10's and since we were taking them down anyways, we might as well use them for projects we've been needing to get accomplished.

Basement before:

This is all from either sides of the fireplace alcoves, and above the mantel.

During:

And this is the look we are going with. *please note that this is not our photo. It is the inspiration picture.

So, with all of that excess lumber in the basement, we hauled it up the stairs and started constructing a headboard for our king bed. I found an inspiration photo on Pinterest and we used that as a rough plan for the construction, but added our own personal touches to it.

Hulk paid a visit while we were building the headboard so we put him to work.

Then Merik showed up like a blister, after the hard work was done... Ha!

We had 4x4' piece of bead board left over from the kitchen project (I haven't posted about the kitchen yet!)

A little white paint.

I had Levi sand the edges a bit to give it a nice distressed look. We love it! Levi is pretty proud of his handiwork. I have some side tables in the works now!

Total project cost: $6 for a 1x4 and some brackets.
