100 pm feeding rehab: This rehab appt didn't go well. Pacen was very uncooperative and refused a lot. He gagged on cottage cheese & eggs. He refused the apples and apricots, and only wanted to eat the fruit dip which consisted of cream cheese and brown sugar. He hadn't eaten anything since his 0800 appt, and had a few sips of juice inbetween. He doesn't understand the hunger cues or what to do with them, so Valerie suggested putting him on a very strict feeding schedule every 3 hours. He got to play with bubbles and wanted to play basketball again before he ate lunch in the rehab kitchen.
500 pm feeding rehab: Oh Pacen, he was very defiant and showing his true colors of how he acts at home during meals. He gagged several times, and refused apples dipped in cream cheese/brown sugar dip. He didn't like the idea of pizza made on bagels until the last few minutes when he finally would take bites of them. He also hasn't expressed that he was hungry or thirsty all day. Before we went into the rehab kitchen he wanted to play basketball again, and did some running back and forth. He knows how to stall the meal process. Pacen also got a time out in the corner for 1 minute when he wouldn't cooperate at all. He was starting to spit from the edge of the chair, so that is definitely bad behavior during meal time. He thinks standing in the corner is more appealing than eating.
And then he refused a cookie. He's refused donut holes in the past. Both OT & ST said they've never had a kid refuse a cookie, that's when you know he's got an issue.
