St Louis Children's Feeding Eval

13 May 2014

We had Pacen's feeding eval at St Louis Children's on Tuesday. The staff was great and so accomodating. We talked about his medical, feeding and therapy history, they watched him eat a few things that we brought, and went off into another room to discuss their game plan for Pacen.

We also have the choice to do the therapy through St. Louis Children's, or three other therapy centers in the neighboring towns around base.

They read over his previous therapy/feeding notes from where we left off and noted that he still has the left sided weakness and it is a little smaller than his right side. They weren't sure if his continued head tilting to drink is habit or actually him not strong enough to hold the cup with one hand. He has no problem leading with his left foot/grabbing things with his left hand, or using his feet equally to jump off of things (like the coffee table.) So that will have to be addressed when we start therapy again. They recommended that he have at least 1 session a week, if not more, and once he turns 3 he will be able to transition into the school system therapy through preschool a lot easier because the issues will have already been addressed.

I think that is all that we covered. The hospital in St Louis is fabulous and we are so excited to only be 30 min away from one of the best facilities in the country. His GI appt is on the 28th so we will be back again to visit the hospital soon!
